What Is Holistic Health?

"Health is a state of complete physical, mental and social wellbeing, and not merely the absence of disease and infirmity." - World Health Organization

Holistic health is an approach to health that acknowledges and addresses the entirety of the human person. We are not just physical bodies, we also have emotional, spiritual and mental aspects that make us all that we are. Holistic health addresses all of the different relationships to those around us, in our community, our society as well as to our environment. Each one of us has our own beliefs, experiences, circumstances and potential. To be truly healthy and whole we must take all of these aspects into account.

There may be underlying causes to some of the pain and sickness we feel that need to be uncovered for us to be fully well. Being holistic means seeing the big picture, and trying to work all things for the better of the person. This comprehensive view of wellness makes it possible for us to experience greater health as a whole so that when sickness or trauma or something else threatens our wellbeing, we may be able to better withstand the challenge before us.

It is possible to be healthy, even if the body is suffering some sort of sickness. A holistic health coach can assist you in finding greater health in all aspects of your life and help you to see the big picture.
